AU HEADCANON HASHING OUT POST

15 years ago the city was plagued by a series of mysterious murders. The children of the local elementary school were disappearing, one by one, nothing but a shoe or a shirt to give any trace of their whereabouts. Eventually, a suspect was pinned - without a shadow of a doubt, this man was the culprit - but due to his blood status and a technicality he was allowed free.

The parents of the small town revolted, taking justice into their own hands. The tracked the killer down and murdered him in secret, hiding the body and covering the incident up. The killer merely laughed as he died, swearing revenge upon their children.

Cut ahead to present day. There are strange disrepancies in the records, the children old enough to recall any of the events suspect that something is up. There are photos of children they don't remember playing with in photo albums, the faint, nagging thought that they've forgotten something - not to mention the fact that the last house at the end of the street leave them slightly breathless with terror.

But the younger kids of the town have grown up happy and healthy, unaware of what transpired so long ago.

Other than that, three things to keep in mind:
1. They live on Elm Street (or Street 413 if we want to be extra dorky). They're on Earth. Trolls are still trolls. We can assume that trolls still carry the quadrant system.
2. They attend the same highschool.
3. They've known each other all their lives. Whether they are friends or not is up to you. Past relationships? Current relationships? Go wild. Keep in mind that this is a horror movie AU so if you want characters to be dating? They can totally be dating, so long as you make sure both parties are cool with it and it's not wildly ooc for it to be happening.

Remember. Horror movies are essentially a horrible highschool dramas with murder thrown in.

AU History: Tavros had a pretty average childhood. He had a supportive father figure, a safe environment to grow up in, and not a whole lot to worry about in terms of the wildlife eating him. The worst thing that happened to him was a car accident when he was very small that left him wheelchair bound, which didn't adversely affect his self esteem until he was actually in school dealing with other kids.

School decimated his self esteem. He's a target who reacts and lets things happen to him. Being nerdy with large, awkward horns and a four wheel device sort of made him a target. Not to mention the fact that he kept going right back to them the minute they offered any sort of kindness. Tavros is pretty attention starved and will do anything to make and keep friends.

He remembers the madness that went down with the big bad as this horrible chapter of his childhood he ignores. Other than the occasional nightmare after the initial encounters, nothing has reminded him of it since.

...she's also the president of the gardening club at school! And a few other clubs no one really cares about or remembers are around except when they show up in yearbook - which she's also a part of - and is sometimes shows up unannounced at clubs she's really not in BUT THEY LOOK FUN!!! AU History: Dave's bro never quite let him forget about all the shit that went down in the past, so most of his childhood was spent training up on the roof of their apartment for an inevitable showdown that Dave is pretty much positive is never going to happen. Why would it? Jesus dude chill out. It's over. Beyond that, he mostly spends his time practicing on his turntables and trying to be a rapper so he can Live The Dream, dinking around on the computer, and ironic photography. He's actually not that bad at that last one, but he's Too Cool to join the Photography Club. And also Too Cool to apply himself in his classes, despite the fact that he's actually quite good at most of his subjects.

He thinks he's too cool for everything, really, which has garnered him an equal amount of teasing and admiration at school. It's mostly the kids that've known him his whole life that do the teasing, since they've been there to understand firsthand that Dave is actually kind of awkward and geeky. I mean really, there is nothing that screams "cool" about a kid who draws shitty webcomics and wears sunglasses indoors.

Good kid, all around good person; her mother was one of those types who never really paid attention to roxy (reason number one she hit the bottle) but WHATEVER RIGHT?? she had a lot of friends around the neighborhood so she considers herself mainly raised by them and what have you. she was also a very, very good student: she excelled at computers and sciences with very little effort but always put her best foot forward in all her studies (reason number two she hit the bottle), though never enough to show off (mainly she kept her bragging to her close group of friends). speaking of, she was a little bit popular in high school, if only because roxy was something of a meddler in her friends' love-lives, wanting to see them all happy and stuff!! she's still something of a meddler these days, though not to the same extent.

the fact that she's pushing 24 and still relationshipless is something that causes her great dismay (reason number three she hit the bottle) but WHO CARES because so long as her friends are happy she's happy.

though she does tend to hit the bottle. quite a lot. this is always a thing for her. though she's not exactly the college party girl one would expect, as she likes to do most of her drinking all on her lonesome. she's currently in college studying computers and creative writing though she's giving some serious though to dropping that second course because god her writing sucks.

also ahahaha incident what incident roxy tries to ignore it for the most part (reason four she hits the bottle), though she has taken the steps to learn shit like basic self defense and some martial arts. oh yeah and guns.

AU History: Rose Lalonde is just the same as any girl who was raised by their wealthy, alcoholic mother. Once upon a time her mother wasn't like this, but these were times that have long since past, and times people don't generally care to remember. Privately tutored during most of her childhood, Rose became quite adept at running off various teachers with sheer obstinance and well-honed passive-aggression. When this started becoming a habitual thing, Rose's mother decided to enroll her in public school at the tender age of 13.

Now, as anyone who's gone through puberty knows, thirteen is a terrible time to be introduced into a new social structure. However, you can't say Rose wasn't prepared for the incoming onslaught of "new kid" teasing that resulted. Most kids found themselves steamrolled by her barbed wit and the icy stare of hers eventually made nearly everyone back off. Rose just simply isn't fun to bully, because one gets the distinct impression that she enjoys the opportunity to unleash some of that pent-up aggression by way of her acerbic tongue. And physically, if it's so needed. You wouldn't think so at first glance, but Rose is more than capable of getting dirty and defending herself.

In high school, Rose is mainly avoided by the majority of her other peers, which suits her just fine. Intelligent as ever, but Rose now seems to prefer to simply do the bare minimum required for good grades in her classes while she focuses on studies that actually interest her; mainly psychology and creative writing. And every so often, when she's sure no one will catch her, Rose finds herself particularly invested in That One Incident No One Speaks Of.

AU History: Equius is That One Creepy Kid. An unsettlingly quiet mouthbreathe-y loner with an alleged laundry list of weird interests who lurks in the back of class. Befriending him out of pity doesn't work, sry. He's an abrasive, pretentious rich boy on top of all that and has no desire for change.

Well, maybe he wants to change a little. Not that he'd tell anybody.

The guy is smart, though. Like alarmingly smart. He plows through bricks of Russian lit and technical manuals as if they're Cosmo mags. He takes apart and reassembles cars as a hobby. His father's paid for him to audit a few high level physics courses at the local university and he breezes through the material with minimal effort. Equius gotten quite a few accolades for his performance on the school's football and wrestling teams, too. Though he doesn't enjoy sports because he's a team player. He enjoys them because it's a socially acceptable outlet for beating the shit out of people.

He's intrigued by That Thing That Happened so many years ago, but being an obedient young man he heeds his father's warning not to look into it. Nobody else should go digging around about it either, according to him.

She is pretty much a "save the world" hippie flower child who spends most of her time practicing swimming. She's a competitive swimmer and does a lot of volunteering.

She's friendly, even if she's a little overzealous with her goals, and tries to get along with everyone. Her bitchy streak tends to show every now and then in her sense of humor. She's currently struggling with a bit of an identity crisis because she isn't what her mother wants her to be and she's now got Meenah whispering over her shoulder that she should be something entirely difference.

No, really, he's adopted and he knows it. His parents were arrested for being crazy hippies, basically. He argues with his father a lot and thinks the man is trying to ruin his life, even if that's not the case. He generally keeps to himself in school as he thinks everyone else sucks. He sits by himself in the lunch room and eats the home-made lunches that his dad is so proud of, but he is SO sick of seafood, you don't even know. You don't even know.

He tries to build his own computers, but he sucks at it. He takes classes at school and he's getting better, but it's never good enough. On weekends he takes part in Table-Top Roleplaying. In fact, he is the best Dungeon Master you have ever encountered. He also likes computer games.

But more than that, he has an overwhelming collection of awful, B-rated romance movies. He is a huge fan of Twilight (Team Edward, haters to the left) but is afraid to admit it to the general public. Kind of.

He was pretty dubious, originally, about all this creepy mass murder shit he's heard rumors about, but now he's really starting to think that SOMEHOW his own skepticism is going to get him in trouble and potentially make him responsible for everyone dying. It will just work out that way.

AU History: Vriska is, obviously, a very eccentric young troll. She loves D&D, LARP, video games, and just about everything nerdy under the sun she could possibly do. She's also extremely superstitious and has been planning for an apocalyptic or otherwise horrible situation for years-- seriously she has an emergency bag packed under the bed and everything in case of zombie invasion. She damaged her eye and arm in a bad fireworks accident because she loves to live on the wild side, and pull dangerous stunts. She usually has a lense over her damaged eye, unless she wants to freak people out with the scarring.
She actually gets surprisingly good grades when she tries, but usually she prefers to just scoot along with the bare minimum because she has SO MUCH BETTER THINGS TO DO GOSH. AU History: Adopted! And quite alright with that thank you very much. Kanaya's mother chose to never birth any children of her own, adopting Kanaya in their stead. The woman is getting on in years (like 60-70) and rather sickly. Kanaya knows her mom doesn't have much time left (but she's trying to come to terms with that).

School subjects don't interest her outside of English Lit and few niche history lessons, but she toils to keep excellent grades for the sake of it looking good on her transcripts. She wants to be a fashion designer/Anne Rice-esque novelist when she grows up. TOTALLY IN THE GARDENING CLUB WITH JADE and involved with the school newspaper, too. Kanaya is quite a busy body and has a knack for sticking her nose where it doesn't belong, which could prove deadly for her once people start investigating the odd inconsistencies in the town history and such.

She's likely still a bit bitter over her unrequited feelings for Vriska, and could be fostering a crush on Rose. I'm open to whatever ship though, or no ships at all, So Proceed In My Direction Comrade
